Guitar Hero III Debuts Better than Ever

Neversoft has done it again with their third installment of thier Guitar Hero series. This game has it all, everything the gamers could have asked for. There are more songs than ever, about 70 to be exact, also, there is downloadable content that will be avaliable as time moves forward.

One big key item is that there are many more songs that performed by the orgianl artists, where as before most of the songs were covered by a different band.

Another big feature is the ability to play against people online across the globe. Not only does this game play much better than the previous ones, it looks more real and is much more visually entertaining even for those watching or waiting to play.

Sync Technology

Microsoft released a Voice Activated In car technology that came available on the current model year Ford Motor Vehicles.

Below is a commercial advertisement for the Sync technology in a Ford vehicle.

With this in car multimedia center, from the touch of a button the driver can pick a particular artist or even a specific song. For example, the driver touches the media button and says, "Atrist, Radiohead," and the car will automatically go to that artist and play all available songs from an iPod. The driver can also link up a bluetooth device such as a phone, and have it check his/her messages, battery status, and even type text messages for the driver. Developed by Microsoft exculsively for Ford Motor Vehicles, Sync enabled cars have just hit the road, and are already makking a big splash.

Walter S. Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal, breaks down the capabilities and advantages of Sync technology in the following video.

Although it seems like the embedding of technology into our every day lives is becoming slightly ridiculous, such as ordering a pizza online, Sync presents a viable way of integrating technology. It allows the driver to multi task as they normally would, but Sync allows them to keep their concentration on driving. In recent years, the cause of car accidents has been related to drivers text messaging while on the road. Hopefully, with this technology, it will create a better multimedia environments for drivers.

"In Rainbow" No longer online

The band announced Decemeber 5th that the album "In Rainbow" would no longer be available on their website starting December 10th. The band stated that the album will be released by CD and vinyl the 31st of December.

Radiohead will support "In Rainbows" with world tour dates beginning next spring.

Radiohead released their album on their website Radiohead.com on October 10, 2007. The album was released to fans just 10 days after it was complete through downloads off of their website. The fans were also given the option of paying for the album what they felt it deserved or even nothing at all.

Radiohead did a live webcast on their website to perform the newest songs from the "In Rainbow" album. Below is their performance of "Bodysnatchers."

Like most of the band's previous albums, "In Rainbow" was an amazing album very much worth purchasing once it's released at the end of December. It just goes to show that when you're an amazing band like Radiohead, you can continue to live of to the hype of new releases whereas many other bands have fallen short of fans' expectations.

We Remember the Nine

To cover every aspect of the Integration of the Little Rock Nine, I would design a website to cover topics such as the history of the event, a look at the nine then and now, the anniversary of the crisis, and the impact it has left.

To allow the reader to move easily through the information, I would have a heading, a side-bar menu, and a main page like the following:

The heading would be titled "We Remember the Nine" and would display a photo of Central High similar to this one.

The menu would list links to each sections of the website: Home, 50 Years Ago, Then and Now, Celebration, Impact, Discuss the Nine and Guestbook. Each of these section would open up into the main page.

"Home"
The first page displayed in the main-page section would open up as a "Welcome to this website" introduction. It would then go on to give a brief summary of the Central High Crisis and explain why we still celebrate the integration today.

Links would include:
LRCentralHigh.org

In this section, I would discuss the conflict in 1957. An example would be:

"September 25, 1957, became a historic day in the Nation when nine courageous children risked their lives to attend Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Confronted by a hostile crowd and escorted by the Screaming Eagles of the 101st Airborne, they shouldered the burden of integrating a then segregated public school system.

Although the Supreme Court’s Landmark 1954 decision in Brown v. Board of Education struck down racial segregation in public schools, it was the courageous actions of these nine young champions of school integration that tested the strength of that decision.

Their actions not only mobilized a Nation to insure that access to a quality education was granted to all Americans, but they helped to define the civil rights movement. They became known as the Little Rock Nine." www.littlerock9.com

I would then embed this video to further explain the debate over the LR Nine.

Links would include:
History.com
CentralHigh57.org
Thinkquest.org

"Then and Now"
In this section of the site, I would give biographies on each member of the Little Rock Nine and show photographs of what they looked like then and what they look like now. For Example:

"Ernest G. Green is currently the Managing Director of Public Finance for Lehman Brothers' Washington, D.C. office. He joined the firm in 1987. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Green was president of Ernest Green & Associates, a minority consulting firm that provided technical assistance in marketing, financial management and economic forecasting.

Mr. Green served as Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training during the Carter Administration, Secretary of Education, Richard W. Riley, appointed Mr. Green to serve as Chairman of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Capital Financing Advisory Board and President Clinton appointed Mr. Green to serve as Chairman of the African Development Foundation.

Mr. Green was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He earned his high school diploma from Central High School in Little Rock. He received a B.S. in Social Science and a Masters in Sociology from Michigan State University.

Mr. Green along with eight other African American students was the first to integrate Central High following the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education that declared segregation illegal. They later would become known as the "Little Rock Nine". Hundreds of organizations have honored Mr. Green during his career. He is the recipient of numerous awards.

Several books, movies and documentaries have chronicled Mr. Green and his eight classmates’ historic year at Central High School. On November 9, 1999, President Clinton presented them with the highest honor this nation gives to a civilian, the “Congressional Gold Medal”, for their outstanding bravery during the integration of Little Rock Central High School in 1957.

He, also, serves on several boards one of which is the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP) where he was Chairman for two consecutive years. Mr. Green and his wife Phyllis live in Washington, D. C. He is the proud father of Adam, Jessica and McKenzie Ann." www.littlerock9.com

"Celebration"
In this section, I would discuss the series of events celebrating the 50Th anniversary, listing the date, time, place, and purpose of each event. I would then go into detail on the events that I attended. For example, for the LR Nine Gala, I would post pictures from the event as well as upload audio files to podcast.com on speeches given by Clinton, Members of the Nine, etc..

"Impact"
In this section, I would discuss the impact the Little Rock Nine has had on Central High, Arkansas, and the rest of the world. One example would be the Little Rock Nine Memorial Civil Rights Memorial. I would give facts about the memorial site, such as the construction and location, and display pictures such as the following:

I would also discuss Educational programs now offered by the Little Rock Nine Foundation. For example:

"Mentoring Program
The program will make a difference far beyond the students that will receive the scholarships. The Foundation will help them achieve their goal of receiving a quality education, while at the same time, preparing them to become productive future citizens and leaders.

The students will be required to mentor younger students, hence, becoming role models themselves. The program will give hope and opportunity to a community where some of its citizens may not see the path to success through education.

The Mentorship Program will begin at the time the students enter college, and will end after their 2ND year. The first Leadership Training Conference will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas, during the summer of 2008." www.littlerock9.com

Links would include:
Little Rock Nine Foundation
Little Rock Nine Memorial Civil Rights Memorial

"Discuss the Nine"
In the section, I would embed a chat applet to my website from www.freejavachat.com to allow viewers to discuss the topics and events.

"Guestbook"
In this section, I would create a guestbook from www.a-free-guestbook.com and put it on my website, to allow users to give me feedback about my site and voice their opinions over the topics.

Still clueless?

Alicia Silverstone is working with PETA to promote vegetarianism in a bare-all advertisement.

Silverstone gave her vegan testimonial on PETA's website saying, "Once I went vegan, I lost the weight I wanted to lose, my nails were stronger, and my skin was glowing. I feel great, and I look better now than I did 11 years ago."

Many bloggers are talking about the "cluelessness" involved in posing nude for a vegan ad. Alex Bagg's post on BestWeekEver produced many comments from readers who believed the celebrity was truely clueless.

"I can see plenty of naked people without giving up meat. "

"Someone drape a fur coat over her naked self."

"Anyone have some bbq sauce?"

As a meat-eater, I can't say that Silverstone's nudity has inspired me to change my ways. However, the ad has inspired me to visit the gym more frequently!

UF Student tasered at John Kerry Speech

A University of Florida Student was tasered and arrested Monday after asking questions at a John Kerry Question and Answer campus forum, according to FoxNews.

Andrew Meyer, 21, asked questions in a forum held by the Univeristy of Florida's student government speaker's bureau about why John Kerry did not protest President Bush winning the election, if he wanted to be president, and why Bush had not been impeached.

Steve Orlando, a spokesman for the university, said, "He apparently asked several questions — he went on for quite awhile — then he was asked to stop. He had used his allotted time. His microphone was cut off then he became upset."

Meyer yelled for help, asking "What did I do?" as four police officers tried to remove him from the forum. Meyer was tasered minutes after speaking. Alachua County Jail records said that Meyer was charged with disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. University police are conducting an internal investigation on the incident.

"The police department does have a standard procedure for when they use force, including when they use a Taser," Orlando said. "That is what the internal investigation would address — whether the proper procedures were followed, whether the officers acted appropriately."

Students were able to catch the incident on video.

In my opinion, the grounds for arresting Meyer were uncalled for. Because Meyer asked not one but three or more controversial questions, the police pulled him away from the microphone. At what point did asking argumentative questions become apart of the "disturbing the peace" charge?

Although its apparent in the video that Meyer resisted arrest, I think the use of the taser was excessive. Just before being tasered, Meyer said to the police, "if you let me go, I'll walk out of here...just don't taser me!"

Meyer resisted a baseless arrest, and for that, he was tasered. I wonder if the University of Florida considers this to be a valuable lesson for other students, that if you ask the wrong questions, you'll be arrested and possibly tasered.

Its not certain that Motorola is targeting women consumers with this advertisement, but they are likely to pay attention to this ad. Kudos Motorolla!

"Heavy, Sexy, and Purple"

No, I'm not talking about the UCA Bears, I'm talking about Yahoo! announcing its newest, Purple Award. The award will be given to artists whose songs were played 10 million times on Yahoo! Music. Instead of a frame with platinum or gold albums, Yahoo! is offering this...

Giant Purple Headphones!

In this post, Yahoo! is acknowledging the fact that album sales have continue to lower as the accessibility of music on the internet has increased. Yahoo! plans to give artists the credit they deserve by researching song plays thoroughly through third party companies, making sure each play lasted for 60 seconds or more.

There is no doubt that the American Music Awards, Video Music Awards, and Billboard Music Awards will always be apart of the music industry. But will the advancement of technology push the music industry to incorporate the Yahoo! Music awards or even the Limewire Music Awards? If that's the case shouldn't the award represent a set of computer speakers rather than headphones?

Crazed Britney Fan

As many college students know, the Video Music Awards plays a huge role in pop culture circles. It's not only an event where you can find your favorite pop musicians performing live and accepting awards, but it's also a platform for some of our favorite actors, actresses, and comedians.

This year, Britney Spears was one of the most anticipated performances due to her eradict, public behavior since her split with Kevin Federline. Everyone was waiting to see what "crazy" Britney was going to do next.

As many suspected, her "comeback" performance disappointed many fans with her awkward dance moves, poor appearance, and obvious lip-syncing. Many critics jumped at the chance to point out the flaws in her performance.

A crazed Britney fan, Chris Crocker, came to her defense in a YouTube video that has been shown on popular websites such as Myspace, The Superficial, and Digg.

"Leave Britney Alone" has quickly become the most watched video circulating the web. It's definitely worth watching, more so than Britney's actual VMA performance!
